Lane keeping, automatic emergency braking and adaptive cruise look through the windshield. Move the glass a millimetre and the camera is pointing at the wrong part of the road.
Manufacturers require calibration after windshield replacement on almost every vehicle built in the last ten years. Skipping it can leave a system that brakes late, drifts out of the lane, or throws a warning light two days later. We calibrate in our own bay, so the glass and the camera are handled by the same shop.
Done in the bay. The vehicle sits at a measured distance from printed targets while the scan tool teaches the camera where straight ahead is. Needs a level floor and even light, which is why it does not happen in a driveway.
Done on the road. The tool runs while we drive at a steady speed on clearly marked pavement so the camera can learn from real lane lines.
Plenty of vehicles ask for a static procedure followed by a road drive. Toyota, Honda, Subaru and most of the domestic trucks fall here.
Bring it in and we will pre scan it first, then tell you what we find before we start.
Plan on 60 to 90 minutes after the glass has cured. Some vehicles need a short road drive on top of that.
Yes. Bring it in, we will pre scan and tell you what we find before we start.
Calibration is normally covered as part of the glass claim. We bill it with the replacement.
